According to latest sources, the business has begun manufacturing the newly announced iPhone 14 in India.

According to sources, the business has begun producing the iPhone14 in India at Foxconn’s iPhone production site on the outskirts of Chennai. a
The Economic Times reported earlier this month that Apple will begin producing the iPhone14 in India in two to three months. According to the source, iPhone 14 models built in India would begin delivering to countries throughout the world in December 2022.

Apple said Monday that it has begun assembling the iPhone14 models in India, producing the current range locally for the first time in the same calendar year in the world’s second largest smartphone market, as analysts forecast a wider change in the American giant’s future production.

In recent years, India has drawn investments from Apple manufacturing partners Foxconn and Wistron by giving attractive subsidies as New Delhi works to establish the nation as a manufacturing powerhouse.

“Historically, India’s iPhone supply chain has exclusively delivered outdated models.” Interestingly, Apple has requested that EMS providers produce iPhone 14/14 Plus models in India in 4Q22, two to three months after manufacturing begins in Mainland China. “The significantly shorter period means that India production is becoming increasingly important, and that future iPhone allocations to India manufacture would most likely be larger,” the research concluded.

“We believe Apple currently solely manufactures iPhone 14/14 Plus models in India because to the more sophisticated camera module alignment of the iPhone Pro series (which is done by EMS suppliers) and stronger local market demand for the iPhone 14 series” (tax savings). We anticipate that volume will begin slowly in 4Q22 (1 million units per month, or 5% of total iPhone sales).”

“India’s iPhone supply chain has supplied only legacy models. Interestingly, Apple has requested that EMS vendors manufactured iPhones 14/14 Plus models in India in 2022 , within two to four months of the start of production in Mainland China,” the report by JP Morgan says.
Separately, JP Morgan analysts claim that Apple is redoubling its efforts to improve iPhone production skills in India in order to reduce its reliance on China. According to reports, the iPhone maker intends to improve iPhone production capacities by 25% by 2025. Currently, the business intends to move around 5% of its entire iPhone14 production capacity to India by the end of this year.
