Redmi Note 12 5G : Redmi’s Redmi Note 12 lineup was just introduced in India. The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, and Redmi Note 12 5G are the three devices available. In 2018, a slew of Redmi Note 11 models were made available in the country via the Xiaomi subsidiary brand. There was no Redmi Note 11 5G variant released in India, while the company did release the Redmi Note 11 4G and the Redmi Note 11T 5G. The Chinese and Indian versions are, in every respect, the same. However, the Note 12 5G that was released in India differs slightly from the one sold in China. The Chinese version only has two cameras, while the Indian version has three. Having used the Note 12 5G for close to a week, these are my impressions..Follow our website, Blingsnews for the latest update
The Redmi Note 12 5G: What’s in the Box?
The Redmi Note 12 5G Frosted Green I received had a polycarbonate back with a matte look that I fear may become scratched over time. The plastic body, including the rear, is also green. The glossy surface of the camera island shows fingerprints easily. The design isn’t terrible, but it’s too similar to the Realme line of phones for my taste; I hope Redmi offers something truly original with the Redmi Note 13 successor.
The Redmi Note 12 5G is a hardy device, with an IP53 rating for resistance to dust and water, and Gorilla Glass 3 for the screen. The earpiece, microphone, and infrared blaster are all located on the top bezel of the device. This one has a second microphone, a USB-C port, and a speaker grille on the other side. A SIM card slot can be found on the left spine, while the right edge features a volume rocker and a power key with a fingerprint reader built in. I don’t think it’s too cumbersome that the handset is 8 mm thin and weights 188 g.
The screen of the Redmi Note 12 5G is one of its best features. The 6.67-inch AMOLED screen boasts thin bezels on three sides and a punch-hole chin, although the bottom bezel is a little broad. The Note 12 5G’s screen supports 60Hz to 120Hz refresh rates, Reading Mode, Sunlight Mode, Always-on Display, and a wide range of colour schemes in addition to the standard Dark and Light settings. In the latter, you can choose between “Standard,” “Saturated,” and “Vivid.” Color temperature options like Default, Warm, Cool, and Custom are available for each of these. YouTube currently only supports Widevine L1, and it does not currently support HDR.
Capability, and Operating System
The Redmi Note 12 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset, which is a 6nm chipset capable of 5G connectivity. The only other phone with the same chip is the iQOO Z6 Lite, which also includes a 120Hz LCD display. The SD4G1’s specifications are nearly identical to those of the Snapdragon 695, with the exception of the SD4G1’s greater maximum clock speed of 2.2 GHz. The SD4G1 can reach speeds of up to 2.0GHz. As can be seen in the screenshot below, throttling was first noticed around the 25-minute mark of the 60-minute CPU throttle test, but the chip recovered its performance during the course of the test. After testing it for about an hour with games like Free Fire Max and Shadow Fight 4, the gadget warmed up noticeably. They’ve included a nifty little addition called “Game Turbo” for supercharging your gaming experience. Dual graphite sheets are used in the phone’s build for efficient heat dissipation.
I got 128 GB of storage and 6 GB of RAM in the review device. The 4 GB RAM version has the same amount of space. The phone’s 5,000 mAh battery will keep it going all day without needing to be recharged during the day. Using the included 33W charger, a full charge took about 70 minutes. Though I was able to perform the AnTuTu, Geekbench, and CPU Throttle benchmarks on the device, I was unable to access the online services required by the 3D Mark and GFXBench benchmarking programmes.
Xiaomi’s MIUI 13 skin sits atop Android 12 on the Redmi Note 12 5G. Redmi, in my opinion, should have shipped with Android 13 as an operating system. Two years of operating system updates and four years of security patches are promised for the device. Amazon, Prime Video, Netflix, LinkedIn, Bubble Shooting Relaxing, Zili, and a few others are among the many preinstalled apps on the smartphone in addition to native and Google apps. The good news is that it is possible to remove these supplementary applications.
