Xiaomi 12 Lite : The Xiaomi 12 Lite smartphone was just introduced in South Africa by the Chinese electronics company Xiaomi. The handset is positioned between the more cheap Redmi series and the primary numbered flagship smartphones in the brand’s flagship series, making it a mid-range smartphone.

Weight | 173 g (6.10) |
Build | Glass front (Gorilla Glass 5), glass back , plastic frame |
SIM | Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) |
The 12 Lite weighs only 173g and offers a seamless user experience, stunning images, and a good camera setup.
A unique aspect of the Xiaomi 12 Lite is its 6.55″ 1080p AMOLED display. It features Dolby Vision and HDR10+ capability. The display, according to Xiaomi, can create “68-billion” colours.
The device’s oversaturated colours and improved contrast make navigation a delight. Although I was continually switching backgrounds to see how the display would depict different photos, some users might not enjoy the heightened colours. Even the app icons, like the red YouTube logo, stood out slightly more than normal. I loved how the brighter colours stood up against the dark grey backdrop when I chose the dark mode.
Navigation is smooth because to the screen’s 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The clearer images and the previously stated increased contrast make watching films in HD enjoyable, and navigating through social networking sites like Twitter and Instagram is just aesthetically stunning.
Additionally, a finger reader beneath the display that detects your thumb and illuminates when touched is included. I had almost no trouble obtaining my thumbprint to unlock the iPhone every time, and it is incredibly responsive.

The absence of a headphone jack on the Xiaomi 12 Lite is regrettable and greatly missed. On the top and bottom of the gadget, it does include a pair of stereo speakers. Although it may go pretty loud and is clear, the sound lacks bottom. This includes during phone calls.
People that listen to music would like to use headphones or earbuds with the gadget. Video audio, such that seen on YouTube, is flawless.
Performance

With the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G CPU, the Xiaomi 12 Lite surely performs admirably. There are no delays or glitches during normal use, and it can even maintain a fair framerate while playing games. However, prolonged gameplay over a longer length of time causes the gadget to feel palpably warm. The 12 Lite’s interface is based on MiUI 13, which runs on Android 12. The user interface is subtle and doesn’t continuously nag you with odd, unidentified programmes. In terms of screen cleaning and utility selection, user interface haptics are comparable to those of latest iPhone models. Apart from setting up the gadget, I seldom ever encountered the MiUI, which I was grateful for because it is scarcely apparent.

Strong range of cameras are available for usage with the 12 Lite. The device’s major selling point is its back camera configuration, which includes a 108MP “Main” camera, an 8MP ultra-wide angle camera, and a 2MP macro camera. a configuration like the more affordable Redmi Note 11 Pro smartphones.
The primary camera’s autofocus delivers excellent photos with high fidelity, high detail, and superb sharpness in favourable illumination. High colour vibrancy is also present. The camera’s Night Mode enhances dim photographs to guarantee improved detail. Every image often has a softness to it when it first appears. Additionally decent, and with no obvious problems, is video capture.
Battery
battery Type | Li-Po 4300 mAh, non-removable battery |
Charge | Fast charging with 67W, 50% in 13 min (advertised) Quick Charge 4 plus Power Delivery 3.0 |
A 4,300mAh battery is included with the Xiaomi 12 Lite to allow a full day of use. The device’s battery is arguably its sole obvious flaw. Sustained use, such as using social media, making calls, chatting, switching between applications, etc., quickly depletes the battery life of the 12 Lite. The battery will often be fairly low by the end of the day and will decrease by 20% before you even realise.
Price
The Xiaomi 12 Lite costs R9,999 ($594.00) in South Africa and has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage capacity.
Unexpectedly expensive, the Xiaomi 12 Lite is a smartphone. With its amazing AMOLED display, the mid-range gadget could compete with most smartphone manufacturers. The performance of the processor and camera configuration are also excellent. Its battery life is its primary flaw, however this may be made up for by the lightning-quick charging.
