The North Avenue Beach is situated near Lake Michigan in Lincoln Park at 1600 N. Jean-Baptiste Pointe DuSable Lake Shore Drive. Leone Beach in Rogers Park is the ideal location for unwinding on the sands of Lake Michigan while soaking up some sun, or for getting active at the close-by playground and kayak launch. Many of the activities offered by the Junior Lifeguard programme take place at Leone Beach.

Swimming is only permitted during the beach season, when lifeguards are on duty from 11 am to 7 pm, in designated swim zones, even though the beach is open from 6 am to 11 pm. The Friday before Memorial Day through Labor Day are considered the beach season.

Rainbow Beach and Park, which is situated in the South Chicago district, spans 142 acres. A gym, a fitness facility, and multipurpose rooms are included among the indoor facilities. A beach and rest area, a community garden, basketball, tennis, and handball courts, baseball diamonds, and two playgrounds are available outside in the park. Kathy Osterman Beach is situated at the northernmost point of Lincoln Park, close to the Edgewater area. Due to its proximity to those streets, Osterman Beach is often known as Hollywood Beach or Ardmore Beach.

2010 saw the debut of a brand-new beach house that was silver LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified by the Chicago Park District. The conventional architecture of this 2,750 square foot comfort station was influenced by Chicago Park District structures constructed at the turn of the 20th century.

In the spring and fall, migrating birds are drawn to a nearby natural environment.

Near the Uptown area, at 4400 N. Lake Shore Drive (Montrose Ave. at Lake Michigan), is where you’ll find Montrose Beach. Ohio Street Beach is situated in the Streeterville area close to the Jardine Water Filtration Plant and Jane Addams Memorial Park. This beach faces immediately north and is passed by the Lakefront Trail.

Ohio Street Beach is a great training ground for open water swimming due to its odd direction. Without ever swimming more than a few feet from the seawall and shallow water, one may swim north for 0.5 miles (800 m) to the Oak Street bend.

The South Shore Cultural Center, which is regarded as the neighborhood’s crown gem, includes South Shore Beach. This complex has a solarium, formal dining hall, Paul Robeson Theater, Washburne Culinary Institute, Parrot Cage Restaurant, and Dr. Margaret Burroughs gallery, all of which have gorgeous country club-like interiors.
